The Importance of Down-Ballot Voting

Politics is a bottoms-up, rather than a top-down, process. That means that true change happens first in your local communities, then in your state, and finally in your national legislature. As such, it is extremely important who you pick to represent you at the state and local level. These representatives fight for your values and rights on a daily basis, and truly do respond to your voice.

Additionally, your vote makes a large impact in state and local elections. By casting a vote for a specific candidate, you are integrally important in helping their chances of victory. (For example, State Senator Kevin Dahle won his last election by only 81 votes!)

That said, it is often hard to find time to investigate all of the various candidates who you could vote for. So we did that for you! Under the State and Northfield headings, you will find all the information you need to know to make an informed decision in your state and local elections this November.

Please take the next few weeks to familiarize yourself with the candidates and their positions, and remember: your vote matters!
